A Performance Monitoring Tool is Now Available

Tia Belau Editorial, April 4, 2013  —-

A good thing is happening.

That is a serious attempt is being made to improve and strengthen good governance in the government system. And it is actually taking place where the public is taking part in it – being more aware of what the government is promising them.

For the first time ever, a transition committee report of an incoming administration has been turned into an action plan.

Compilation of Remengesau’s transition report is complete and has been published and disseminated to all the the respective  Ministries, and renamed the Management Action Plan.

And now the public and every sectors of the society has an actual tool to hold up every morning, to monitor and check on the leadership whether they are holding true to their responsibilities and accountable to their decisions and actions.

But if there is one thing this administration has opened itself to, it has opened itself up to all kinds of criticisms. Be it constructive, cynical, or otherwise, which only comes with the territory, when all is bared under the sun for all to see.

The administration has now placed itself under a magnifying glass, to be dissected, deciphered, second-guessed, coded, labeled, and many other things.

And that is a good thing.

Why? Transparency is the best disinfectant. Now everyone will carry the management action plan as a form of disinfectant to help rid the government’s inefficiency, wasteful spending, corrupt practices, and just plain unresponsive agencies that fail to provide services to the public.

A press release along with the digital copy of the MAP document was also sent out to the respective individuals and organizations of the news media. The administration have announced that they will make available copies of the MAP upon request to the Office of the President.

This is the first transition report, albeit without prompt, to be publicly disseminated.

So take delight everyone, you are encouraged to get your copy and hold your government and the leadership true to their promises.

The same thing should be extended to the Olbiil Era Kelulau and the Judiciary Branch.
